information DESCRIPTION

Welcome to Greyfriars Kirk, a worshipping congregation of the Church of Scotland in the heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town where a church has stood since 1620.

We are vibrant community of Christian worship, celebration of the arts as well as a significant place for Edinburgh and Scottish history.

We try to be a welcoming, inclusive community and to respond to local needs in a variety of ways. Worship takes place during the week as well as on Sundays in English and Gaelic.

The Kirk is a major venue for the arts, a tourist destination and through the Grassmarket Community Project we support some of our most vulnerable citizens.

We can offer visitors our museum's historical tours, an exciting and varied list of music and arts events all-year round as well as a growing and vibrant community at the heart of Edinburgh's historic city centre.

Greyfriars Kirk is also in an ecumenical partnership with Augustine United Church and St Columba's by the Castle.
