Homeless Outreach Project (HOP) is an outreach project providing specialist addiction, mental health and streetwork services to homeless people.
The majority of our work is conducted in an outreach manner. Either by us targeting homeless people on the streets, receiving referrals from other homeless organisations or by self-referral.
Homeless Outreach Project offers advice, support, advocacy and outreach street work.
What we do:
- We aim to assist people to find appropriate accommodation and sustain it.
- Assess people with mental health problems and link them into appropriate services.
- Operate a psychiatric clinic on a weekly basis between ourselves and the Edinburgh Homeless Practice (EHP). This is managed between the mental health workers at HOP and EHP.
- We assess people with addiction problems and provide ongoing support, again linking them into appropriate services. Also involved in the Substance Misuse Team - a collaboration between HOP and EHP.
