information DESCRIPTION

The PEEP programme (Parents Early Education Partnership) is used across the UK and abroad. We aim to help parents/carers and children make the most of everyday learning opportunities together, from the start. Our evidence-based programme supports parents/carers and children to learn and play together. We train practitioners around the UK and beyond, and work with families in our local area.

Practitioners have been Peep-trained from Shetland and Highland down to the Borders, and from North and South Ayrshire across to Perth and Dundee. The Peep programme is being used strategically at a local authority level in areas such as Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Mid and West Lothian, South and North Ayrshire, Dundee and Fife, which deliver over 150 weekly Peep groups to families between them, as well as outreach work. The Peep practitioners are employed by local authorities and third sector organisations etc, rather than by us at Peeple.

Peep development in Scotland

If your organisation or authority is interested in the following then do get in touch with our Peeple Scotland staff:

- How Peep programmes can complement your work supporting parents and carers with their children’s learning
- How Peep supports the aims of the Pupil Equity Fund - and how that funding can support your Peep work
- Post-training sharing of good practice, including contact with the expanding network of Peep practitioners and managers, via local network meetings, Facebook, email etc
- Building links between different organisations in the sector

We are delighted that the Scottish government (Child & Maternal Health Division) and Big Lottery Fund recognised the value of the Peep work with families happening in many parts of Scotland for the last ten years, and funded Peep development work in Scotland for three years. This includes supporting and developing Peep work across Scotland, as a model which adds value to existing early years, parenting, adult learning and health provision.

If you would like to find out where Peep groups are being delivered in Edinburgh please see https://www.peeple.org.uk/peeple-office-scotland
