information DESCRIPTION

Port of Leith Housing Association was founded in 1975 to redevelop older tenement properties in Leith. For over 30 years, the Association has been at the heart of the redevelopment of Leith. As the Association has grown, new house building, community regeneration and promoting pride in Leith has become the main thrust of activity.

The Association sees its role as providing quality, affordable, well maintained housing. We will continue to develop homes in Leith and try to ensure that the exciting new developments include opportunities for people from all social and economic backgrounds.

Amenity Housing

The Association has a number of amenity flats in developments across Leith, including Couperfield, Buchanan Street, Elgin Street, Goosander Place/Street and Constitution Street. These amenity flats are for people over the age of 50 and provide accommodation for people who do not want warden support, although support can be provided by other agencies as required. The flats have design features such as lower baths with handles and poles for easy access and more accessible electric sockets that make them more suitable for older people or people with mobility problems.

The flats are unfurnished and are mostly one bedroom although we do have some with two bedrooms. There are lifts to all floors and a controlled door entry system for added security.
