If you become a patient of Edinburgh Access Practice, you will be able to access the following health professionals and services:
Surgeries are partially open access, meaning you can see a GP without the need to make an appointment.
You do not always need an appointment to see a practice nurse, as they are available both during and out-with the GP surgery times. You can speak to a practice nurse for advice by calling the practice on 240 2810 or by calling in person to either of our practice premises at Cowgate and The Access Point. If the practice nurse is unable to see you, we can make an appointment for you.
Midwife and Health Visitor
Antenatal care and support during pregnancy on a Thursday afternoon at The Access Practice women-only clinic.
Practice Mental Health Team
There is a weekly drop-in on a Wednesday for anyone wanting to link-in with a CPN or wanting mental health or substance misuse advice. At least 6 spaces are available at the Wednesday Drop-In.
In addition, you can be referred to the Practice Mental Health Team by clinical staff at EAP. This service offers support from CPNs, Occupational Therapist, Social Worker and Voluntary Agency colleagues to assist you if you are experiencing difficulties with alcohol, drugs, other addictive substances, as well as mental and physical health problems.
You can access the Occupational Therapy service through referral either by any member of the EAP clinical staff team, or by workers from other agencies.
Clinical Psychology Service
You can access the Clinical Psychology service through referral either by any member of the EAP clinical staff team, or by workers from other agencies. The service is available for the assessment of psychological and mental health difficulties and provides treatment in the form of psychological therapies, education and advice where appropriate.
Hep C Assessment &Treatment Clinic
We have a weekly Hep C clinic for assessment, support and treatment. Please ask for further information
Welfare Rights Officer
Can identify what benefits you may be entitled to and help with every aspect of claiming these benefits from initial applications to representation at appeals. This is an appointment-only service available on a Tuesday PM at 20 Cowgate and a Thursday AM at 17 Leith Street please ask any member of staff if you wish to make an appointment.
Interpreter & Translation Services
We have the facility to provide telephone access to a translator service for those whose first language is not English. In some cases, an interpreter can be arranged to accompany you to your appointment.
