information SERVICE DETAILS

Edinburgh South is a fun, friendly, and welcoming cricket club based at Inch Park adjacent to Cameron Toll shopping centre.

We run four teams in the East of Scotland Cricket Association league, as well as fielding various friendly sides. Our sides encompass a wide range of standards. We also run cricket for Women and Girls and a Junior Section. Both boys and girls take part in the Junior section which starts in All Stars from around age six.

After a successful 2021 where two side gained promotion, our 1st XI play a good standard of cricket in Division 1, the 2nd XI plays competitively in Division 6, with our 3rd and newly reactivated 4th XI play in Division 7. Our Sunday XI, Edinburgh South Mitres, play either in in ESCA's 30 over Development competition or friendlies. These matches are mainly social cricket involving novices, promising younger players coming through from our junior section and veterans, plus a few experienced hands whose role will be to guide and develop players. Some of the young players who started in this side have developed to the extent that they have made first XI appearances.

In midweek we play in T20 cup competitions and members also have the opportunity to participate in games organised under the Last Man Stands eight-a-side format.

In 2017 a Women's and Girls section was introduced and they are progressing very well. They play in the Wee Bash Women's Indoor tournaments during the winter months and during the summer season, outdoors, in combination with Stewarts-Melville in the Scottish Women's Premier League. In the future we hope to return to also playing Development matches as was done in our founding year. Mothers, daughters, sisters and aunts are all involved.

We are founder members of the Inch Park Community Sports Club (IPCSC). IPCSC is one of Scotland's most exciting sporting projects, creating excellent sports and community facilities including our amazing new clubhouse and a new cricket square. In recent years we have rapidly expanded our youth activities, coaching in seven primary schools and one secondary school in the local area, as well as running our own youth section.

There's plenty of cricket for everyone - from the highly ambitious to complete beginners. We welcome players from other clubs, those who are new in Edinburgh or those taking up the game for the first time. You can check us out on Facebook and Twitter (@edinsouthcc).

If you'd like to be a part of our continuing progress and are interested in getting involved, then please contact Paul on doodlereds@yahoo.co.uk or call 07990 784 283.

Come on the South!
