We’re back, but with a few changes

We’re so happy to be back delivering this programme again. Like everyone, we’ve had to adapt for COVID-19. Things might be a little different and not all our courses will be starting immediately but our friendly team of coaches are here to welcome you back and help you stay active with us in a safe, but most of all enjoyable way. We are currently delivering in-venue courses and virtual group sessions.

Our team are contacting participants to let them know about this support. You can also get in touch with us by emailing active@edinburghleisure.co.uk or calling 0131 458 2260.

Normal service details...

"Get Moving with Counterweight" is a free 12 month group programme which supports you to make small changes to your diet and lifestyle to help you to manage your weight and become more active. It is a healthy lifestyle programme funded by NHS Lothian in partnership with local authorities.

After the 12 week group programme there will be drop in weekly weighing sessions and follow up group sessions at 6, 9 and 12 months.

What can I expect at the Get Moving with Counterweight Sessions?

Your weight will be monitored at each group sessions. It is treated confidentially and will not be shared with shared with the group. At each group session you will be taken through a series of interactive topics including:

- Weight loss goals and energy requirements
- Healthy eating and active living
- Understanding food labels
- Healthy shopping, cooking and eating out
- Eating habits and emotions
- How to prevent lapsing and relapsing

By the end of the programme you have the skills to manage your weight for life.
