COVID-19 UPDATE...

Hurrah! We move into Level 3 on Monday 26th April. We can now ride outside our local authority area. The limit from the Scottish Government is 30 riders, but Scottish Cycling are recommending a 9 rider limit. We will therefore limit our rides appropriately to the area we are riding in. We will always ride in small groups with gaps in between.

New members are most welcome to attend but should email me Ironside@blueyonder.co.uk to say you have read and will abide by the Covid regulations for our group rides below before coming on a ride.

Please note that by attending a ride:

- You are self-certifying that you are well and not required to isolate or quarantine.
- You agree to maintain social distancing before during and after the ride.
- You agree not to share food or drink.
- You will carry a mask and hand sanitiser in case of untoward events, such as mechanicals or accidents.
- You agree to follow NHS guidelines if you become unwell after the ride.

Also, please be aware that as Covid Coordinator I will keep a record the contact details of the participants on each ride.

Looking forward to seeing old friends and new members out on the rides soon.

Normal group details...

We are a member group of the national charity Cycling UK based in Edinburgh, the Lothians and the Borders.

The group used to organise three rides per week (that is in more normal times!) starting in Edinburgh and visiting the surrounding areas.

Wednesday rides...

- Our Wednesday rides are around 50-70 miles in the summer and 40-50 miles in the winter.
- Meeting time 9:50am for 10:00am start at published location.
- We have a picnic lunch; al fresco in summer and in pre-booked village hall where we can make hot drinks during the winter months.
- Bring something to eat and drink to keep you going on the ride.
- Runs are paced to suit those attending as we never leave anyone behind.

Sunday rides...

- Sunday rides are usually around 40 miles although there may be the occasional longer ride.
- Meeting time: 9:50am for a 10:00am start at published location.
- We usually have a café stop for lunch or a picnic in the summer.
- These runs are aimed at people who fancy a relatively easy paced cycle run and those who want to take a step up from shorter to longer cycle runs.

Tuesday evening rides...

- Tuesday evening rides take place during the summer months and are around 20 miles, usually with a pub/cafe stop near the end.
- All rides meet at 6:30pm in front of the Commonwealth Pool, 21 Dalkeith Road, EH16 5BB.
- Riders should be capable of managing this distance and if they are not sure or would like advice please contact Alastair Sim – 07778 982 265 Our first Tuesday evening ride will be on 30th April 2019.

To view the destination, meet point and contact for our next ride, check our rides list and time table at https://www.cyclinguk.org/local-groups/lothian-and-borders

Whatever bike you have – road, tourer or hybrid, you’ll be welcome on our rides; we just ask that your bike is roadworthy and, for the benefit of other riders in the group, in wet weather conditions be fitted with mudguards. You need not be a member of Cycling UK to come along on our rides to start with, just turn up and you will be made most welcome.

If you wish to become a regular rider we do ask you become a member of Cycling UK. To join please go to http://www.cyclinguk.org/join
