Charities, voluntary organisations, community groups, social enterprises all fall under this umbrella term.
Voluntary organisations are non-profit driven, non-statutory, autonomous and governed by individuals who do not get paid for sitting on the management committee or Board of the organisation. Some voluntary organisations are recognised as charities and registered with OSCR.
Some organisations provide their services and activities for free, whilst others may charge. Any charge is usually small and designed to meet the cost of running the services.
