information DESCRIPTION

Dementia Friendly Pentlands is a volunteer organisation run across the communities of Juniper Green, Currie and Balerno. The idea was born out of a desire to give people living with dementia a stronger PRESENCE in local communities by building communities that are SAFE, SUPPORTIVE, STRONG and RESILIENT enough to support people living with dementia and their carers.

Creating a community where all are included, where all can experience a sense of belonging and where all can continue to express themselves is critical to Dementia Friendly Pentlands efforts.

Dementia friendly Pentlands aims to work with the community to support people with dementia and those close to them, to help them remain active and engaged with their communities in a meaningful way.

DEMENTIA FRIENDLY COMMUNITY PROJECT

Creating dementia friendly communities for Juniper Green, Currie and Balerno

As the number of people with dementia increases there is a need to ensure that our communities support people with dementia and those close to them and allow them to engage with and contribute to their communities in a meaningful way.

We are working with National Dementia Friendly Community programmes headed up by Edinburgh City Council and Alzheimer’s Scotland to ensure that our local communities are dementia friendly.
