DESCRIPTION
Welcome - the Diocese of Edinburgh is one of the seven Dioceses of the Scottish Episcopal Church, part of the world-wide Anglican Communion, bearing witness to faith today, and tracing a history back to earliest known Christians in Scotland.
Members of the Diocese engage in roles of active Christian leadership on peace, justice and human rights issues as well as having pastoral and educational roles. The Diocese works closely with other Christian denominations and faith communities in Scotland in responding to the needs and concerns of all people.
From its northern edge along the Firth of Forth, the Diocese covers the whole of the Lothians, Falkirk and the Scottish Borders down to its Southern boundary along the English border. It incorporates more than 50 churches, half of them in the city of Edinburgh, served by nearly 50 stipendiary clergies.
Edinburgh has two companion Dioceses, the Anglican Diocese of Cape Coast in Ghana and the Diocese of Dunedin in the Anglican Church of Aotearoa, New Zealand and Polynesia and with the Diocese of Espoo in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland.
