Goodtrees Neighbourhood Centre was built on the original site of Moredun Primary School. It is situated in Moredun, with its area of benefit covering Fernieside and Moredun.
The new centre was established with the purpose of providing social, recreational and educational use. It comprises one level, which has 11 rooms of various sizes (reception area, office, crèche room, café/kitchen area, 3 meeting rooms, art room, youth room, computer suite and a large activity hall).
The centre's programme includes; youth & children’s clubs, adult computer classes, parent & toddlers, mums & kids and dads & kids groups, Karate, Slimming World, Total Well-Being Group, Community Baby Clinic.
During school holidays we provide a play scheme during the day, and youth clubs in the evening.
There are 4 staff based in the centre: a community learning & development worker, clerical worker, family learning worker and a service support officer.
Children and Families Department, Priorities of Social Inclusions, Lifelong Learning and Active citizenship is vital to the development of Goodtrees Neighbourhood Centre.
