Hello, we are Gorgie Dalry Stenhouse Church. We would love to welcome you to any of our services or events.
Gorgie Dalry Stenhouse Church sits right in the heart of the community of Gorgie and Dalry.
We have been moving steadily over the years towards becoming a church that is real. We have seen a growing trust and openness developing amongst ourselves, and there is a real desire to be honest with each other and supportive of one another. Our worship has become much more interactive and informal, and blends the best of the past and the present in a contemporary style. Our desire is for people to come away from here having felt that people noticed them as individuals and above all that Jesus loves them unconditionally and wants to bring them in to an intimate relationship with God.
We treasure the Gospel of Jesus and look to share it freely by word and action with all who will receive it. We have done so not just through Sunday services but through small groups, prayer times, children’s groups, holiday clubs, schools’ work, Alpha courses, women's meetings, outreach activities, night shelters for the homeless and the care van for those on our streets. It is wonderful to see people who may suffer from low self-esteem, or who feel isolated and forgotten by people in the world find a sense of belonging and be valued for who they are through Jesus.
We recently merged with another church.
The Congregations of Gorgie Dalry Parish Church and of Stenhouse St. Aiden’s Parish Church officially merged on the 1st of January 2016. Though merged, the two congregations have so far been continuing to worship in their respective church buildings. There is also a service at Stenhouse St. Aiden's every Sunday at 11am - in the Edgar hall, opposite Kwik Fit on Chesser Avenue.
We have recently opened our new coffee shop, Saltyard. Our prayer is that Saltyard will provide a place of belonging and love in Jesus for all the people in the community.
You will find our Gorgie Church right next to the Hearts stadium on Gorgie Road, and our Stenhouse Church with the Edgar Hall on the corner of Gorgie Road and Chesser Ave. Also come and see us in Saltyard on Dalry Road, beside Dalry Primary School.
Free parking is available on the streets surrounding the church. Around Saltyard there is metered parking during the week but it is free at the weekend.
The church is on a main bus route. There are stops in both directions within a few metres of the church. Buses passing the church are numbers: 1, 2, 3, 25 and 33, plus First Buses nos. 27 and 28 and Blue Bus no. 27 serving West Lothian. Additionally, a few hundred meters to the East there are stops for buses nos. 4 and 44, and a few hundred meters to the West there are stops for bus no. 38.
