Directory of local groups/projects who are offering specific support during the current COVID-19 pandemic »

In line with Government advice, most groups and organisations in the city have had to take the unfortunate decision to suspend face to face and group work activities. Please telephone or email the contacts listed for the group or organisation if you are interested in their work to check what alternative arrangements might be available or to find out about alternative groups or services in your area.

Description

Hoda Productions was set up in 2004 to facilitate projects which combine music and moving images between professional artists and the wider community. We run workshops alongside performances using animation, music and outdoor activities for a broad range of clients in the education sector and cultural communities in Scotland. Examples of our work can be viewed at the website www.hoda.org.uk.

HODA uses creativity and outdoors activities to bring out the best in young people of all abilities and from all backgrounds. Developing an awareness of the environment through projects that offer a space to respond, using visual art forms and music to reflect.

By running workshops which integrate animation music we have built up our reputation for delivering exciting site-specific events across the length and breadth of Scotland.

Why the community needs us:

We engage young people from a wide range of backgrounds in projects that inspire all of their senses and offer them opportunities to respond creatively. We offer volunteers opportunities to gain experience in working alongside vulnerable young people in a supportive environment. Our music programmes have been featured and broadcast on the BBC, Times Educational Supplement, STV and the Scotsman.

Our impact on the community:

In 2011-2012 over 150 young people from 5 schools were given the opportunity to explore Holyrood Park during our most recent project, Rock Opera, the story of James Hutton's discoveries on Arthur Seat. It was screened on the Crags with the bike-powered Geurilla Cinema during the International Science Festival. Our music programmes have been broadcast on the BBC, featured in the Times Educational Supplement, STV and the Scotsman. Have a look at www.rockopera.org.uk for more info.
