information DESCRIPTION

What is Pass IT On?

Pass IT On is a charity which adapts donated computers for people with disabilities who live in the EH (Edinburgh and Lothians) post code area. Clients can be of any age and may have a wide range of disabilities including learning difficulties or mental health problems as well as pysical disabilites. The only requirement is that it would be difficult or impossible for them to use publicly available computers (eg in the library).

Pass it on aims to enable people with disabilities to access computers by re-using the currently much wasted resource of used IT equipment.

After an in-depth assessment process, clients receive their bespoke computer system at cost price, often free. There is an in-house means tested Adaption Fund which they can apply to for support with buying any required specialised adaptations.

We have 2 paid members of staff and a team of about 40 volunteers. We also provide work placements for people who have extra support needs.

Pass IT On was founded in 2002 by Martha Lester-Cribb and Sandy Kerr, who manage the charity. They were joined in 2011 by Helen Russell in the new post of Administrator.
