Shine is a national mentoring service for women offenders. The service is provided as a Public Social Partnership (PSP); a strategic partnership between public and voluntary sector organisations. Shine was launched in April 2013 and is now available all across Scotland.
Shine aims to help the women it works with develop the skills, hopes and aspirations they need to have a successful and fulfilling life away from the criminal justice system. The project focuses on short-term prisoners who have been sentenced to less than four years of imprisonment and who are returning to the community. It also works with women living within the community who are in danger of breaching a Community Payback Order (CPO).
The Shine Family
Shine works with eight partners including Access to Industy. The others are: Sacro (the lead organisation), Apex, Wise group, Turning Point, Circle, Barnardos, and Venture Trust. The Project is funded through a Public Social Partnership and is supported by Robertson Trust, SPS and the Scottish Government.
