The Why Project

We’re a youth work charity based in Edinburgh, bringing safe, fun, and welcoming spaces for young people to spend time, learn and grow. Established in October 2018 and officially recognised as a charity in July 2019, we’ve been at the heart of our community ever since.

At our weekly youth clubs, you’ll find everything from arts and crafts activities, pool, cooking to games and workshops, all designed to help young people explore important topics and have a enjoy themselves while doing it! Our ‘Wee Havens,’ located in Clovenstone Community Centre and Gate 55, are free of charge and open to all—no barriers, just a place to feel at home.

​We don’t stop there! We run school holiday programmes, provide hot meals at all our sessions, and offer signposting support for families who need it. We’re also proud to partner with local groups to tackle real issues that affect young people in our community, helping them make positive changes in their lives. Plus, we offer awards and volunteer groups for those looking to gain new skills, recognition and accreditation for their achievements.
