What

Taking a holistic approach to helping parents towards work, we provide education, training and employability advice, alongside supporting health, wellbeing and personal development and providing practical knowledge to assist parents.

We offer one-to-one support with an allocated Caseworker and optional group sessions to enhance parents’ employability and life skills. Working with parents to identify the challenges preventing them moving forward, Caseworkers help build an individual Action Plan to tackle their barriers and help them progress towards sustainable employment, while considering their work preferences and family responsibilities. Practical support is also available around benefits, grants, childcare and other issues, as required.

Who

Access Progress works with unemployed parents or those with parental responsibilities living in Edinburgh with at least one additional barrier to work (lone parent, disabled or has a disabled child, employment returner, BAME parent, under 25 years old, or parent whose youngest child is under 1). We are also happy to engage with parents/carers outwith these groups on a case-by-case basis, if our support will ultimately benefit their child/children.

When

The Service is flexible to fit the requirements of parents and we provide support at a time and place that suits them. Engagement is not time limited – we support participants for as long as they require, even after they progress into work or education.

Why

Access Progress aims to improve the employment options, outcomes and quality of life for all its participants with the aim of supporting them to build better lives for themselves and their families.

Where

Delivered at Access to Industry’s Community College at 156 Cowgate, or at community venues across Edinburgh.
