Baby loss information and support

Sadly, some babies are lost during pregnancy, birth, or shortly afterwards. We have information and support for anyone who has experienced the loss of a baby, whether through miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal death, or termination for medical reasons.

Join our baby loss support group on Facebook

We believe that by talking about baby loss openly and honestly, we can help each other feel less alone.

Join Tommy's support group - please see https://www.facebook.com/groups/Tommysblsupport/about.

Topics covered:

Miscarriage information and support

Miscarriage is the loss of a pregnancy during the first 24 weeks. Find out about the symptoms and causes of miscarriage, and what happens if you miscarry.

Stillbirth information and support

Stillbirth is one of the most devastating experiences any parent can go through. We are here to support everyone as they go through this very difficult time.

Neonatal death information and support

Losing a baby is devastating. This information is for anyone who needs emotional or practical support after a neonatal death.

Ectopic pregnancy: Signs, treatment and support

An ectopic pregnancy is a condition that happens when a fertilised egg attaches itself somewhere outside the uterus. Sadly, this will result in pregnancy loss.

Molar pregnancy information and support

A molar pregnancy is when a fetus doesn’t form properly in the womb. It is a very rare complication of pregnancy that sadly results in loss.

Terminating a pregnancy for medical reasons (TFMR)

Having a termination for medical reasons can be a huge trauma. You should be given all the information you need to decide what’s best for you.

Pregnancy and parenting after loss...

Rainbow baby information and support

Information and support about rainbow babies, the term used to describe a baby born after miscarriage, stillbirth or neonatal death.

Parenting after loss

Having a baby after a previous loss can cause some complicated feelings. This information is based on conversations we’ve had with parents going through this.

Pregnancy after loss stories

Pregnancy after loss is often a time of complex emotions. We spoke to mothers, partners and families about their experiences of pregnancy following a loss.

Breaking the silence about baby loss...

The Baby Loss Series

Through The Baby Loss Series we want to raise awareness of the prevalence of baby loss, make parents feel more supported and less alone.

Together for change

If we can talk about it openly and honestly, not only can we help each other feel less alone, but we can also pave the way for greater awareness and more research to stop it happening.

Read stories

Thank you to the parents who are helping to #breakthesilence by sharing their stories of babies lost during pregnancy or afterwards.

Miscarriage research

1 in 4 women experience miscarriage. 1 in 100 have 3 or more miscarriages in a row. We want to change this so that no one has to suffer the trauma of losing a baby.

Stillbirth research

When a baby dies after 24 weeks of gestation, it is called a stillbirth. Around 2.6 million babies are stillborn each year. Tommy’s research is helping to change this.

Premature birth research

Around 60,000 babies are born prematurely each year in the UK. Tommy’s is saving lives by researching how we can prevent premature births by finding those at risk early on.
