Become a Garden Partner
I am a gardener and need a garden….
How can I get involved?
If you are a gardener without a space then we may have a garden that you can grow in near where you live. We welcome gardeners from across the city to get in touch but also those who can reach some of our harder to reach gardens. We are currently needing more gardeners in the South and North areas of the city to help in areas like Liberton/Gilmerton/Portobello and in the Forth.
Register your interest as a volunteer gardener or gardener offering space by filling in our online form at https://www.edinburghgardenpartners.org.uk or give us a call.
I am a gardener and have a garden but just want to help support the charity, what can I do?
If you want more of a one-off volunteering opportunity then you could join us on our garden SOS programme. We have 8 SOS sessions in a year where we have a team of growers who give help to clear a plot ready for the gardener to get growing. Please get in touch with if you are interested in this opportunity.
You could help us by organising a fundraising event or help us in one of our organised events coming up. We love to hear from anyone who like to run in our carrot and pea pod costumes!
Tell others! the best way that gardeners get to hear that they can become a garden partner is through you, sow the seeds!
If you feel you can offer skills or experience that could help us then get in touch with our manager Claire Bennett, firstname.lastname@example.org.
Do I need to spend a certain amount of time in my garden?
We ask our gardeners to spend at least 4 hours in their garden a week. For those keen and eager growers this will be easy and enjoyable, we ask this commitment to give ongoing help to the garden owner and to make sure you can give enough time to get the land growing.
When can I get a garden?
As soon as you apply using the volunteer application form, we can look at the gardening options near you. For areas where we have lots of garden owners this can be a quick process and you can get a garden within a couple of weeks, for other areas it can take longer depending on those sharing their space.
I may want to garden in the future, how can I stay in touch?
You can sign up to receive our seasonal Turnip newsletter and hear growing tips and hearing of gardening successes from our garden partners.
Upload your photos of your gardening tips, achievements and join our garden partner community on Facebook and @EGPgrapevine. Already share your garden, get in touch we love to meet new garden partners!
How many people garden share in the City?
At the end of our first summer growing season we had 60 garden partnerships across the city and growing! with over 70 volunteer gardeners.
We need your help to get more partners growing in hidden gardens across Edinburgh and to help those who see their garden as a waste that could be fruitful and productive with your green fingers.
