information SERVICE DETAILS

The Bridge Counselling Service is here for people when they are experiencing difficulties that impact daily living. Things like stress, depression and anxiety, problems in relationships or work related issues can be understood better when talked over in a confidential, non-judgemental way with a counsellor.

Our counsellors are qualified or in training and registered with accredited professional counselling bodies (COSCA, BACP or ACC).

The Bridge does not charge for counselling sessions and donations to support the running of the service are appreciated. We are keen to be a helpful resource to the local community and be accessible to all.

What is Counselling?

Sometimes we encounter difficulties in coping with our everyday lives and counselling can give you the opportunity to explore your thoughts and feelings. Talking can help us to understand what is wrong and explore ways of changing things thereby helping us to resolve dilemmas and make clearer, measured choices.

The aim is not to provide you with quick and easy answers, but the counsellor will listen to you and try to help you find your way forward.

Although each person is unique, and no two circumstances are the same, we can help a person move forward with most difficulties, including:

- Anxiety and stress
- Abuse of any kind
- Bereavement
- Relational difficulties
- Work related problems
- Separation or divorce
- Anger
- Low self-esteem/loss of confidence
- Spiritual issues
- Depression

All counselling is by appointment only. Normally, the sessions will last for 50 minutes, and are on a weekly basis. The day and time will be mutually agreed by counsellor and client, and should remain constant throughout the process. There may be a waiting time between your initial enquiry, and the time you are seen.

We are here if you are hurting and need to talk.
