Eagle Lodge Salvation Army Care Home provides care to 35 older people, some with dementia, who can no longer live independently. All staff play a central role in creating a positive culture where residents’ rights are promoted, ensuring they are active participants in care decisions. Families also work with staff to ensure care is best tailored to the needs of their loved ones.
Daily, residents can take part in meaningful activities with the purpose of enhancing quality of life and maintaining physical and mental well-being. Activities are designed to be creative and to stimulate thinking or memory, such as music, art, flower-arranging, chair exercise and walking. Other tasks support everyday living – folding washing and setting tables. Residents can also participate in organised activities from watching films to singing or enjoying shopping trips.
The Salvation Army wants older people to feel fulfilled in their later life. Staff work hard to ensure residents feel safe and at home at Eagle Lodge and to enjoy the best quality of life.
The care offered engages the whole person and addresses their physical, emotional and spiritual needs. They encourage residents and families to make choices which enhance and enrich their life, to participate in activities which bring them fulfilment and to share socially which eases possible isolation.
