How can we help?
Counselling offers time to work through personal issues or difficulties which are causing distress.
Your concerns could be around:
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Loss
- Work issues
- Abuse
- Relationship difficulties
We provide a respectful, confidential and supportive space to explore thoughts and feelings about yourself and your relationships.
Who are the counsellors?
We have volunteer counsellors, both qualified and in training, from different backgrounds and cultures. Counsellors work in English although we may be able to offer other languages.
What will it cost?
We ask for a donation for each weekly counselling session, including the initial appointment, of between £2 and £30. Ability to pay does not affect your access to counselling.
How we work...
Information about counselling sessions, including what happens during your first appointment.
First appointment...
At your first appointment you will discuss what it is you are struggling with. During the appointment we will assess whether counselling with us is right for you. If you and your counsellor agree to work together, you will be offered a number of counselling sessions, which will be weekly at the same time as your initial appointment.
Counselling sessions...
Last 50 minutes and are arranged with the same counsellor each week. You will be offered up to 6, 8 or 12 counselling sessions in the first instance. Further sessions can be organised in discussion with your counsellor, and the work is reviewed regularly.
Making an appointment...
You can make an appointment, by telephone, by email or by writing to us. You can only make a booking for yourself, and not on behalf of someone else.
If all available counselling spaces are full we will have a waiting list for appointments. We will take your name and details and contact you when a counsellor becomes available. You do not need a referral from your GP or any other professional to make an appointment.
N.B. Please note we DO NOT offer couple's counselling.
