Empathy in Mind is an Edinburgh carer-led Group which offers a safe and confidential space for any carer who may be experiencing the challenging behaviours associated with mental health difficulties.
The Group is for anyone who cares for someone with a mental health difficulty: you may be a friend, parent, grandparent, partner, sibling or flatmate.
The Group was initially borne out of people caring for someone who had, or could have, attracted a diagnosis of borderline personality disorder (BPD). Now the Group is open to all carers of people with mental health difficulties.
Here you can meet with other carers and listen, chat, share or just enjoy the company as you wish.
How We Can Help...
The Empathy in Mind Group
Carers are often left confused and bewildered by a diagnosis or, indeed, non-diagnosis when you know help is needed. This can leave you feeling anxious and fearful about what is happening in your life, how to deal with the constant crises that arise and how best to support your loved one while taking care of yourself.
The Empathy in Mind Group can help by sharing experiences and suggesting better ways to cope.
The Group will give you an opportunity to learn and understand the difficulties associated with diagnoses such as personality disorders.
Being part of the Group will help reduce your sense of isolation and, importantly, you will be encouraged to also take care of your own mental health and well being.
The Group provides a warm, welcome and safe space to be able to meet and chat about any of the difficulties you may be experiencing, with people who can empathise and appreciate what you may be going through.
The Empathy in Mind Group welcomes you.
Please feel free to come along and discover for yourself how empathy, tea & cake can make all the difference!
The Group usually meets on the 3rd Tuesday of each month - for the next meeting, see https://www.empathyinmind.org/about-us.
We meet at The Botanic Cottage at the Royal Botanical Gardens.
Please feel free to contact Linda, our Group Facilitator, via linda@empathyinmind.org, she will be happy to tell you more about our Empathy in Mind Group.
