Cd-19 UPDATE...

Currently, in line with Scottish Government guidelines, we are not delivering sessions inside the family home. However, with recent funding from the Scottish Government Health and Wellbeing fund we were able to purchase some Portals, which enable us to continue our service remotely via video calls.

We have now issued these to families, prioritising those who are struggling due to isolation, declining mental health and those who do not have English as a first language. As the portals have a wide angle lens, automatically zooming in and out, this has improved our online engagement with children and parents.

Allied to this, our parent and carer closed Facebook page continues to be a source of support and reassurance for parents across the city.

Service details...

Support for disadvantaged and vulnerable families including families with children with additional support needs who are not eligible for statutory services. Support provided by volunteers and Family Support worker. 1 to 1 short term support for children with additional support needs to develop their confidence and social skills through child led play activities and 1 to 1 support for children and young people to access activity opportunities in their local community. Support for parents who have few support networks of their own, help and encourage them to establish routines, play activities with their children and access other agencies.

We can deliver flexible and tailored respite to meet both the needs of the parents/carers, your child/ren with a disability and their siblings. This whole family approach, delivered in the family home where children feel secure and comfortable, save parents / carers time, planning and other all the other challenges we know there are when you need to travel to access respite services for one child with a disability.

Registered and inspected by the Care Inspectorate and awarded the top grade of 6 – “Excellent” at our last inspection, our co-ordinators will come to meet with you in the family home to discuss your needs and the needs of your child and children and agree with you what service you want from our trained and supported staff and volunteers.

We can, for example, look after your child with a disability and their siblings at the same time leaving you free to enjoy much needed respite. We can provide a trained and experienced member of staff and a volunteer so that your child with disability gets specialised one on one attention and activity specific to their needs, whilst a trained volunteer spends time with siblings. We can take your child/ren to activities in the local community, to play in the local park – it is up to you to decide what works best for your family.

With a minimum session of 2 hours, our service is available to you during the day and evening, 7 days a week. Please note we are not registered to provide overnight care and support .

Our charge for this tailored and flexible service is £18 per hour and can be purchased through a private arrangement or Self Directed Support.
