SERVICE DETAILS
GroceryAid supports people who work or have worked in the grocery industry. This includes anyone who works for a supermarket, wholesaler, manufacturer, convenience store, independent grocer, petrol forecourt store or service provider to the grocery trade. We also support businesses in the foodservice wholesale sector.
Grocery is considered fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) sold in supermarkets or grocery stores.
Who can apply?
- You are currently working in the grocery industry and can evidence the last six months employment with the same company.
- You are no longer working in the grocery industry, but previously worked in it for five years or more (the time worked doesn’t have to be continuous and can be with multiple companies). For people no longer employed in the grocery industry we can only consider one financial grant.
- Income and expenditure meets GroceryAid’s criteria for financial hardship. This is based on the Joseph Rowntree Foundation Minimum Income Standards. Please be aware that the calculator is a guide only and not a guarantee that you will receive a grant.
- You will need to provide statements for all current accounts, savings and investments for all household accounts. Total available balances need to be below £4,000 during the 90 days before application.
What can we help with?
A financial grant from GroceryAid does not have to be paid back. You can apply if you have recently experienced:
- An unexpected drop in household income
- An event which is causing a financial crisis
- Long term disability or illness in your household
- You are currently homeless or at risk of homelessness
- Financial help to leave an abusive relationship, or when starting again after a relationship breakdown
If you are struggling to manage your finances due to cost of living increases and you have not experienced any of the above, GroceryAid can consider a one-off grant, maximum £300 per household. If you are applying for a Cost of Living grant you will need to be a current grocery employee with a minimum of six months service, in receipt of income related benefits such as Universal Credit or Tax Credits and select Cost of Living as your reason for application.
