HOW WE HELP

WE ASSIST THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE WHO ARE SERVING OR HAVE SERVED AS WARRANT OFFICERS AND BELOW IN THE ROYAL NAVY & ROYAL MARINES, AND THEIR DEPENDANTS, WHO FIND THEMSELVES IN NEED OR DISTRESS. OUR AIM IS TO HELP THEM ENJOY A REASONABLE QUALITY OF LIFE MAINLY BY PROVIDING WIDE RANGING FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE.

CAN WE HELP YOU?

If you fit one of the following descriptions then, apart from a few exceptions, The RNBT is almost certainly able to assist you:

- Serving and ex-serving men and women: past or present RN rating or RM other rank, including Reservists – a Primary Beneficiary.
- Wives, husbands and partners: dependent partner of a Primary Beneficiary with whom you live.
- Children: under the age of 18, of a Primary Beneficiary, living or deceased.

WIDE RANGING FINANCIAL HELP

We make grants to assist in a very wide variety of circumstances, such as help towards living expenses, house repairs, disability aids, job training, all sorts of financial difficulties, care home top-up fees, domiciliary care and much more. Every year we respond to just under three thousand applications with grants totalling about £1.3 million.

Every year we make grants to just under 3,000 applicants, from under £100 up to several thousand pounds, totalling more than £1.5 million. The circumstances must involve ‘necessity or distress’ (in the words of our Royal Charter), and the range is almost endless.

WIDE RANGING FINANCIAL HELP FOR BOTH SERVING AND VETERANS
EXAMPLES OF THE ASSISTANCE GIVEN INCLUDE:

- Over £336,000 for specialist medical equipment and mobility aids including EPVs, Stair-lifts and Riser Recliner Chairs
- Assistance for Bankruptcy Fees
- £139,000 for rent arrears and rent in advance
- £88,000 for furniture and furnishings
- £181,000 for Funeral expenses
- £81,000 for Training and Education for employment, leading to over 50% of applicants becoming re-employed
- £15,000 to ease fuel poverty
- Help towards Care Home Top-up Fees and Domiciliary Care Costs

IF YOU ARE SERVING YOU SHOULD CONSIDER CONTACTING YOUR LOCAL ROYAL NAVY FAMILY & PEOPLE SUPPORT (RN FPS) FIRST.

For applications for financial assistance which are under £750 you can apply by visiting our trusted partner Lightning Reach at https://www.lightningreach.org/application-portal?referral=RNBT.

If your application is likely to require assistance above £750 then we need a report from a caseworker. Please contact either SSAFA or TRBL to arrange for them to contact you. RNBT will then take action on their report.
