The EVOC Red Book

The online directory to find third sector Organisations, and their services across Edinburgh

Only services that are currently available during COVID-19 are listed in the directory.

In line with Government advice, most groups and organisations in the city have had to take the unfortunate decision to suspend face to face and group work activities. Please telephone or email the contacts listed for the group or organisation if you are interested in their work to check what alternative arrangements might be available.

Mutual Aid Edinburgh

We have been awarded a grant from Foundation Scotland to assist with the shopping and delivering of food, hygiene, and other essential shops for vulnerable households and people experiencing financial difficulties across Edinburgh during the Coronavirus outbreak.

In terms of funding and delivering the shops, there are three broad options:

- We can cover the full cost of the shop;
- We can cover a portion of the shop; and
- Recipients would pay for the food, but it is still collected and delivered to your home.

Each option can be suited to different needs. For instance the last option may be for those who feel comfortable paying for their shop, but would still rather stay home for their own or others protection.

Because households are talking to individuals and not agencies, the shopping lists and instructions can be as personal as they need to be. We would stress again that we operate on mutual trust and will never ask probing questions!

This last option is for those who feel they can afford their shop, but still require shielding for any reason. However, if you are experiencing financial difficulty, please do take the option of a full or partial subsidy. We’re not the DWP – we won’t ask any questions!

If you or someone you know would benefit from our efforts, or you would like to get involved, please get in touch with us via email at
