Launched in the summer of 2013, Grassmarket Café is a hidden gem of Edinburgh and a social enterprise, supporting the ongoing work of Grassmarket Community Project. Grassmarket Café has built its reputation on using seasonal, locally sourced ingredients in the heart of the Old Town community, just down from Greyfriar’s Bobby.

Our ethos

We make all our food and drinks with love, care and attention, sourcing triple certified coffee from Brodies in Musselburgh. All food is freshly prepared onsite by a dedicated kitchen and café team, made up of well-seasoned professionals and members from Grassmarket Community Project. Excellent service, value for money and good, hearty and rustic food in a bright and friendly space should be expected when you visit. Eat in or take away, there is a wide choice of healthy daily specials with a fantastic range of beverages. Our daily menu includes homemade soups served with artisan bread and a selection of sandwiches, wraps and paninis, or you can try some of our enticing freshly baked scones, cakes and other delicious bites.

Grassmarket Café is fully wheelchair accessible and creates a family-friendly atmosphere, coming fully equipped with highchairs and baby changing facilities. Our free WiFi and multiple power points aid the facilitation of informal business or group meetings.
