St Mark’s Junior Church is held every Sunday during term time.
Story telling, crafts and activities are laid on for the children, mostly based around the lectionary readings, but also incorporating church seasons and social issues (such as fairtrade). At the end of the service, the children are invited to tell the rest of the congregation about what they’ve been discussing.
We have about 15 regular children, and are joined periodically by others. They range in age up to 16. The high school children have the opportunity of going to Glenalmond Youth Camp, run by the Scottish Episcopal Church’s Youth Network.
A range of other activities take place through the year, including the nativity play, outings and picnics, and helping prepare the church for special occasions.
The children go down to their activities during the first hymn and come back up for our communion. There are occasional All Age Services, where the children play their part in the worship and we worship as one congregation together.
There is a Youth Fellowship for P7's and older on the last Sunday evening of every month and three times a year, the youth groups of St Marks and our neighbours in the Church of Scotland meet for an informal cafe and music evening.
