Service Update - Coronavirus
We are now able to offer most of our courses online through video conferencing, please see below for dates. Some of our regular courses have to be done in-person, and these will be reintroduced as soon as possible when restrictions allow. We'll contact our volunteers directly when we have dates to offer.
We offer a wide range of training courses to ensure to those involved in delivering DofE, JASS and Outdoor Learning.
This includes the Lowland Leader Award and DofE Modular Training Framework courses.
INTRODUCTION TO THE DOFE
Classroom course for new DofE leaders and helpers, covering all the basics of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and the process of supporting young people through their programme.

EXPEDITION ASSESSOR ACCREDITATION SCHEME
Classroom course training those who wish to become an Accredited Expedition Assessor in the skills and understanding required to fulfil their role. Compulsory for all Expedition Assessors. Nationally accredited. Small pre-course e-learning tasks.

OUTDOOR FIRST AID
16 hour practical first aid course covering basic life support, common injuries and managing first aid incidents in remote locations. Suitable for validating most outdoor qualifications e.g. ML and Lowland Leader. Valid for three years.
First Aid training will be organised by email with our volunteers.
MOUNTAIN TRAINING: WALK LEADERSHIP AWARDS
Lowland Leader Award
National governing body qualification, training aspirant leaders in the skills required to lead walking groups in lowland countryside and woodland, in summer conditions. There is a 2-day training course followed by a consolidation period and a 2-day assessment.

Expedition Skills Module
Outdoor course for qualified Lowland, Walking Group and Hill & Moorland Leaders, teaching and assessing the skills required to lead overnight camps, also remote supervision and training methods.

Mountain Leader
National governing body qualification, training aspirant leaders in the skills required to lead walking groups in British mountains in summer conditions. There is a 6-day training course followed by a consolidation period and a 5-day assessment.
