Family Fund believes that families on low incomes raising disabled or seriously ill children should have the same choices, quality of life and opportunities as others. However with additional costs to meet and income from employment often restricted by caring responsibilities, this isn’t always the case. Power Up’s ambition to improve the financial health of people by using digital inclusion can help combat this.
We are excited to be a partner of the Power Up initiative, which is supporting 15 exciting new projects to tackle the digital skills gap.
Our Power Up project will help parents and carers on low incomes in Edinburgh and Glasgow to develop the confidence and skills to use digital tools to maximise and stabilise their incomes.
Free training and digital support is available from August to eligible parents and carers on how to use online tools, websites and Apps to manage money, save on spending and access benefits and grants.
To be eligible for this support you must:
- Be a parent/carer of a disabled or seriously ill child or young person
- Live in Edinburgh or Glasgow local authority areas
- Be on a low income
- Want to learn how to use online tools, websites and Apps to manage money, save on spending and access benefits and grants.
It is also useful for you to have a digital device and regular access to the internet. If you meet the above criteria but don’t have a device or internet access, please do still get in touch.
Power Up training is tailored to individual needs and choices, with various options to help break through the barriers to digital learning, support is available throughout the journey.
