Ferry Blend is a local community choir based in South Queensferry.
We sing for enjoyment, for the challenge of learning new skills, and to share a real variety of good music with our audiences. We sing concerts locally, go carol singing, visit pensioners’ clubs, and participate in wider events such as the Fife Festival of Music.
We have an inclusive ethos, and our members have a wide range of musical experience and ages. Our members come from Kirkliston, Blackness, Linlithgow, Winchburgh, Fife and Cammo as well as from South Queensferry itself.
We try to incorporate as many genres as we can, so the program typically includes light popular music, songs from the shows, folk or world music, spirituals and gospel songs. We have an accompanist, but also sing a range of a capella material.
We sing music in four-part harmony.
There is no audition for entry into the choir. Although we use sheet music, there is no formal requirement to read music, as long as you are willing to use the provided audio files to learn your part.
Uniform: There is a black shirt or blouse with a gold treble clef provided for choir members, along with a coloured scarf for ladies and a tie for men. It’s up to you to provide smart black trousers, and black shoes.
This is an adult choir and is popular with older adults.
There is an annual membership fee of £80 which is paid as two instalments of £40.
