Covid-19 UPDATE...
New admissions
Our homes are now accepting new admissions. All new residents are being asked to take a test for the virus – ideally prior to admission, or at the beginning of their stay. Residents will be cared for in isolation during the first fourteen days of their stay, and will be supported under our Fourteen Day Promise. This promise ensures new residents do not feel isolated and includes support for daily video or phone calls with family, an enhanced in-room dining service, family involvement in care planning and a personalised lifestyle and activities programme agreed upon arrival.
The Elms is a large Victorian mansion set in its own extensive grounds. It is situated in the Grange area of Edinburgh.
This is home to our specialist service to people with dementia who can no longer live safely on their own or in another residential setting.
Our knowledgeable and caring staff great take care to promote every resident’s wellbeing, respecting their dignity, choice and rights at all times.

Your Individual Care Plan
On admission to The Elms, residents are appointed a Key Worker who will work closely with all relevant parties to create a bespoke and suitable care plan. This will be monitored and regularly updated to ensure we deliver the best possible care and outcomes.
Accommodation
The 40 single rooms all have en-suite toilet/shower rooms, and residents are encouraged to furnish their bedrooms with personal belongings if they so wish. Bedrooms are located on both the ground and first floor with lift access.
Located on the ground floor of the home are three comfortably furnished lounges and an Activities Room available to Service Users, also one communal dining area offering a varied menu. Meals can also be arranged to meet individual Service User’s dietary needs. Flexible mealtimes are also available, and Service Users can have friends to join them for a minimal charge.
Activities
We organise regular activities at The Elms. They include music and movement, quizzes, bowling outings and many more.
Family Involvement
The Elms offers open visiting, and staff are happy to have relatives share in the care of their elderly relatives.
Community Involvement
Service Users are actively encouraged to continue with interests held prior to coming into The Elms.
Staff are always available to accompany Service Users on shopping trips and walks etc.
Other Services
In order to support our Service Users spiritual needs, staff all have an active Christian commitment. Staff conduct daily devotions and Service Users choose if they wish to attend.
The Elms provide an in house hairdresser with unique salon, our hairdresser visits twice a week. Morningside Mobile Library visits 6 weekly. The Elms has a podiatrist and local GP who visit regularly.
