What can you expect when becoming a volunteer with us?
Volunteering with the Planetary Healing Centre is a beautiful experience. It is important that the whole experience you have with our organisation is enjoyable and that it makes a real difference to you and everyone involved.
Your volunteer journey
The team at the Planetary Healing Centre is here to make your volunteer journey as easy as possible. Our aim is to make volunteering easy and ensure that everyone enjoys the experience, both the volunteers and the people that come along to our activities and services. When you become a volunteer with the Planetary Healing Centre, you will receive regular support and guidance.
You can support our organisation by sharing your skills and talents in fundraising, digital and social media, marketing and communications, admin support, recruitment and more. How involved you get is really up to you. We always have plenty of work and projects that you can get involved in.
Getting started as a volunteer
An interview will be arranged once we assess your application. It all starts with you, and in that interview, you may have a lot of questions about volunteering, so our team is here to answer all of them. We will also have some questions for you: how much time you can give, the skills that you can offer, any support needs and your reasons for volunteering. Following your interview, we will be in touch to let you know the outcome of your application.
Here is how volunteering works
You will get plenty of information when you start volunteering with us but to make it as easy as possible, below are a few things that you might want to know before sending us your application:
Induction and training
You will receive a thorough induction before you start volunteering with us. You will also receive other training based on your volunteer role and the activities involved.
Support while you volunteer
We will provide ongoing support during your time volunteering with us from our Project Development Operations Worker or a member of our Board of Trustees. You can discuss your volunteering experience with us and share any issues you might be facing with your volunteering work.
Expenses
We aim to reimburse you for all reasonable travel expenses incurred whilst volunteering with us. We will pay for lunch when you volunteer 4 hours or more.
Insurance and qualification
As a volunteer, our insurance will cover your voluntary work. However, as a volunteer holistic practitioner working online, you will need to provide your own personal insurance for practising the therapies you offer. You will be required to present a copy of your qualification and copy of your insurance for our records.
Safety
We do not want our volunteers to feel unsafe or engage in any unsafe activities. Our induction and training process includes safe working practices.
Security
We will check whether your role requires Disclosure to make sure that you are able to support vulnerable people. Volunteers working on a 1:1 basis with vulnerable people will need to be PVG registered ( Protecting Vulnerable Groups). We will also ensure that risk assessments are carried out for your role and activities.
Diversity, Equality and Inclusion
At The Planetary Healing Centre, we believe that all people deserve fair treatment and opportunities. We use this framework in all of our practices, including recruitment. Our volunteers represent a range of backgrounds, cultures, skills and lived experiences, as do the people they support.
Confidentiality
All volunteer information is kept confidential within The Planetary Healing Centre. As a volunteer, we will also expect you to maintain the confidentiality of any information you might handle during your time with us.
Ongoing support
Whenever possible, we apply for funding to support further training for our volunteers.
