Volunteering is a fun, rewarding activity that can help you learn new skills, make new friends and make a difference in your community. Here at Adoption UK Scotland we value all our wonderful volunteers and welcome new ones who want to join the team.

There are various roles that you can apply for depending on your interests, skills and the time you can commit to volunteering.

Our current roles in Scotland include:

Community Network Volunteer: Could you spare a few hours every month to help create and run groups in your local area?

Online Book Group Lead Volunteer: We're looking for someone to host and facilitate our online book group for adoptive parents

If you have another role in mind, get in touch and we can see where you can fit in. For example, if you want to use your photography or administration skills.

Most of our volunteers are part of the adoptive or care experienced community, but even if you are not, you are more than welcome to volunteer with us.

Youth Volunteering

Young people aged 12-25 can sign up to the Saltire Awards through Adoption UK Scotland. The Saltire Awards are the Scottish Government's way of celebrating, recognising and rewarding the commitment, contribution and achievements of young volunteers in Scotland. Young people gain nationally recognised certificates, signed by Scottish Government ministers, for the different amounts of volunteering they do. They also earn Young Scot points which can be exchanged for rewards.

Certificates can be worked towards by volunteering at our events, volunteering in the local community and/or volunteering with our community engagement program, the #E Project. Once registered, every bit of volunteering can go towards the awards, whether it be a few hours with the #E Project, a morning at a school fair, a local litter pick - everything counts!

The #E Project also recognises the amazing contributions made by some of the young people not yet old enough for the Saltire Awards. Under 12s can earn bespoke #E certificates for everything they bring to the group. Find out more about volunteering through the #E Project here.
