information DESCRIPTION

The Scout Association has nearly 900 Scout Districts across the United Kingdom. Each District is responsible for providing support to its member Scout Groups and is in turn supported by a Region.

Braid District...

Braid District was formed on 1st April 2012 following a merger of Morningside and Blackford Districts. Since then, the District has grown in size and membership is increasing year on year.

The District covers the geographical area of Blackford, Newington, Gilmerton, Morningside, Greenbank, Buckstone, Fairmilehead and Liberton. It is responsible for the Scout Groups and Explorer Units in the District.

Braid is a busy District offering Annual District Events for young people to make friends and take part in the Scouting adventure.

In Scouting we offer fun, friendship and adventure to young people in five sections according to age. There is an emphasis on outdoor activities throughout. The older sections take increasing responsibility for the running of their programme.

Scouting is run by adult volunteers.

We’d love you to join us in Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers or Network, or to volunteer as an adult.

Join the adventure!
