information SERVICE DETAILS

Our Guided Self-Help service is for anyone aged 18 or over who live in the Edinburgh and Midlothian area, who are experiencing mild to moderate depression, anxiety, stress and/or sleep problems.

The service is most helpful for people who are looking for self-management techniques to manage their own wellbeing. They must be motivated to commit time to complete the materials between sessions, with an aim to bring about positive change in their lives.

The service is based on the principles of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and provides one-to-one support to access self-help materials. A guided self-help worker provides one-to-one support to enable people to make positive changes in their life now and going forward. It is essential that the person is motivated to carry out tasks and complete workbooks at home.

Referrals to this service are welcomed from:

Edinburgh GPs, GP Link Worker via GP, Mental Health Nurses and Thrive Welcome Teams.

Our referral forms can be found here: Guided Self Help – Health in Mind – RefHelp (nhslothian.scot), please see https://apps.nhslothian.scot/refhelp/guidelines/mentalhealthpsychologyotherservices/guidedselfhelp.
