Alzheimer Scotland - Edinburgh Service provides a wide range of services for people with dementia and their carers. Through its network of Dementia Advisors and its services it provides advice and information.

It runs regular support groups and Dementia Cafés for carers and people with dementia to exchange experiences, learn new information and benefit from mutual support.

Alzheimer Scotland - Edinburgh Service provides a wide range of specialist services for people with dementia and their carers. It offers personalised support services, community activities, information and advice, at every stage of the dementia journey.

This Service is for individuals who have a diagnosis of dementia, their families and carers. It offers:

- Information and advice.
- Family outreach support.
- Community and home support.
- Carer support and education.
- Monthly 'Oasis' social club for carers and younger people with dementia.
- Day opportunities for people in early, middle and late stages of dementia.
- Befriending for people of all ages.
- Post-diagnostic support for those newly diagnosed with Dementia.
- Community Activities.

Post-diagnostic support:

If you have recently received a diagnosis of dementia, the Scottish Government has given you a guarantee of support for at least a year from a named and trained person, called a Post Diagnostic Support Link Worker (or similar title).

This means supporting you in adjusting to a diagnosis and its likely impact - both emotionally and practically; and helping you plan for the future and work through the key issues and supports available. This should help you live well with dementia in your own home and local community for as long as possible.

For further information about the Post Diagnostic Support Link Worker Service, please get in touch with its office on 0131 551 9350; EdinburghServices@Alzscot.org
