Barnardo’s Scotland has been working in Scotland for more than a century. Our purpose is to reach out to the most disadvantaged children, young people, families and communities to help ensure that every child has the best possible start in life. We aim to make sure that every young person is able to reach their full potential, whatever their circumstances in life.
Today we run more than 130 community-based services across Scotland.
Barnardo’s Works...
Barnardo’s Works is an innovative service supporting young people from deprived communities to secure independent, sustainable employment. The Barnardo’s Works model is a four step programme that partners with employers to get young people into work. We engage, train and qualify young people aged 16 to 24 to support them towards a positive destination.
This scheme provides an opportunity for employers to contribute to the youth employability agenda. We can match excellent young people to quality work placements which lead to long term employment.
Barnardo’s Works is a practical way of matching the potential of young people with the needs of employers. By working together, we can ensure that the hardest to reach young people, those furthest away from the jobs market, are given access to the opportunities available.
