Columcille is situated in Morningside Edinburgh and offers creative activities for adults with learning disabilities and a spacious hall hire venue. Columcille is a registered charity and a social enterprise.
At Columcille we provide a range of creative activities for adults with learning disabilities. Our activities offer individuals the opportunity to develop both social and occupational skills, whilst helping to develop their confidence and self-esteem.
Activities offered include crafts, art groups, gardening, cafe , joinery as well as music, dance, drama. We offer rhythmical massage therapy, have a music therapy group and also offer individual rhythm sessions which help develop individuals’ spatial awareness and coordination.
The Columcille mini bus enables a number of service users to access Columcille who may not otherwise be able to do so. The mini bus also allows service users to get out and about visiting different places of interest in Edinburgh , (including visits to cafes and accessing barge trips or summer barbecues).
There are up to 30 service users each day, with 70 people attending each week.
There is a lively social aspect to each day with opportunities for service users to further develop both social and occupational skills. Participants may attend on a full- or part-time basis.
The Columcille Development Worker coordinates the Music for ALL workshops that take place in different locations in Edinburgh. (Five mornings a week in Edinburgh, and one morning a week in Mid Lothian). This is described in a separate section.
The Columcille Ceilidh Band is available for hire and is described in a separate section.
Columcille also offers a spacious hall hire venue, available for hire alongside our café/kitchen during evenings and weekends. Our hall rental is ideal for exercise classes, craft markets, family celebrations, choirs and workshops to name but a few suitable events.
