Founded in 1880, the Corstorphine Literary and Geographical Society (familiarly known as the Lit) is still strongly supported by the Corstorphine community, with regular turnouts of 100+ to their weekly meetings to hear illustrated talks on a wide variety of subjects.
Known as “the Lit” the Society was originally called the Corstorphine Literary Association and began as a men's only group in 1856 however in 1880 it became open to the public.
