Edinburgh Leisure run a multi-award winning project helps over 400 older people stay active and healthy each week in Edinburgh. Our activities have been developed to cater for a wide range of tastes and abilities. They take place in community venues throughout the city, and are led by trained volunteers who are all older adults themselves.
The diverse range of Ageing Well activities includes:
- Allotment gardening
- Buddy swimming
- Chair-based exercise
- Cycling
- Dancing
- Photography
- New Age Indoor Kurling
- Seated Yoga
- Singing
- Walking
Participants can expect a warm welcome from Ageing Well volunteers on arrival. Plenty of fun, laughs and exercise throughout each session, and a refreshment and a blether afterwards.
The cost of participating varies depending on the activity, but we do our best to keep costs to a minimum so it's as easy as possible for people to take part. Often the Ageing Well activities carry a low eg. £1 contribution
Funded by NHS Lothian and run by Edinburgh Leisure, in partnership with Pilmeny Development Project, Ageing Well Edinburgh has had over 15 successful years of making a significant difference in the lives of older adults who regularly attend our activities.
For further details on taking part, visit our older adults activities section on our website or contact the Ageing Well Team.
