Edinburgh u3a (Eu3a) is a Scottish registered charity forming part of an International u3a movement founded in Europe in 1972. Edinburgh u3a is affiliated with the Third Age Trust.
u3a is a learning co-operative that enables members to share knowledge and learning. Our aim is that our members co-operate and collaborate in our third age to continue to learn and develop, and to have fun, as we also have a range of leisure activities. We are guided by u3a Principles.
Membership of a u3a is open to all who are in their “third age”. This is defined not by a particular age but by a period in life when full time employment has ceased and parenting responsibilities have diminished. There is no lower age limit for membership and people who are working part time may join.
n Eu3a we have almost 200 activity groups. See the full range on the Groups page at https://u3asites.org.uk/edinburgh/groups. In addition to our own activities the Learning page has links to other u3as and a host of other external learning opportunities including distance learning possibilities.
