The EVOC Red Book

The online directory to find third sector Organisations, and their services across Edinburgh

Only services that are currently available during COVID-19 are listed in the directory.

In line with Government advice, most groups and organisations in the city have had to take the unfortunate decision to suspend face to face and group work activities. Please telephone or email the contacts listed for the group or organisation if you are interested in their work to check what alternative arrangements might be available.

Licketyspit is a specialist early years theatre company, which has been creating plays and theatre experiences for early years children since 2004. As well as touring theatre productions to theatres, community and school settings all over Scotland, our repertoire includes site-specific shows, drama workshops and immersive theatre as part of drama-led early intervention.

Licketyspit is the Resident Theatre Company at North Edinburgh Arts, and is a specialist children’s theatre company. We create our shows through talking and playing with children aged 3-7 years old, and we tour them to theatres, schools and community venues across Scotland. All Licketyspit’s shows have been performed at North Edinburgh Arts, including: Magic Spaghetti; Hare & Tortoise; Molly Whuppie; Wee Witches; Christmas Quangle Wangle; Heelie-go-Leerie; Green Whale and most recently, LicketyLeap.

Early years children are firmly at the heart of our work, which is rooted in creative engagement, practical artistic research, consultation and developmental practice with children aged 3 - 7 years.

Licketyspit believes that the arts can empower children and support them to flourish, and that theatre in particular has the capacity to foster democracy and a sense of possibility.

Licketyspit seeks to raise the status of early years children by using itd practice to support and inspire them, creating opportunities to showcase their frequently underestimated capacity to contribute to a healthy and vibrant society.

We believe theatre is a uniquely effective tool with which to encourage and enable people to play, embrace and enjoy their creativity, and that this will support their capacity to flourish.

Theatre is the art form built on ‘play’, and Licketyspit wants to inspire play, creativity and possibility in everyone.
