DESCRIPTION
The City Of Edinburgh Council's day care facility operates from Monday to Friday, accommodating up to 22 older people per day, who have higher level needs.
Respite for carers is seen as a priority need. A suitably adapted minibus is provided to transport the service users who experience mobility problems to and from the day care centre. This allows the carer's some quality respite and relaxation time.
A wide-ranging programme of activities is available such as arts and crafts, games, quizzes, a gardening project, computer training, hairdressing salon, nail bar, entertainment, outings and massage.
Close working relationships have been developed with local health, housing and social work colleagues, aiding the smooth and speedy referral of service users to other services which support their ability to remain living at home.
