The breakfast bothy is a meeting place where people experiencing financial hardship or homelessness can visit to get support.
The breakfast bothy was born under lockdown, and is part of the Carlowrie Castle family (https://carlowriecastle.co.uk). With the team unable to engage in the normal events schedule, this project was ideal to promote community involvement, unite the team, and give back during a challenging time.
In true Carlowrie style, the box has been restored, transformed, and repainted in day-glow yellow and orange by volunteers. The bothy also draws from experiences of Carlowrie Group Founder, Andrew Marshall's, charity RESTART. The charity was founded in 2009 to help people experiencing homelessness in London.
The aim going forward is to grow a community through this website and make the day-glow police box a community haven.
We are looking for local businesses and volunteers in Edinburgh to offer services to the homeless community and we are open to all suggestions. Please contact info@carlowriecastle.co.uk and become part of the journey.
Join us to contribute, shape, and progress the breakfast bothy - individually or as an institution - and make a difference.
