A Friends group for the Cammo Estate (Cammo Local Nature Reserve) in Edinburgh, Scotland.
The Cammo Estate is an 85-acre public park. It's a quiet spot with meadows, dykes, and mature, open woodland, situated in the Barnton area on the North West edge of Edinburgh. Forming part of the city green belt, it is bounded by the River Almond, Turnhouse Golf Course and residential suburbs.
The Cammo Estate holds several ruins, including Cammo House, a 17th-century mansion that burned down after 1975. Other remains include the ruined stable block, ponds, a bridge and the lodge that now houses a small visitor centre. Cammo Water Tower, complete with battlemented parapet, still stands.
Friends of Cammo undertakes activities on the Cammo Estate, including tree planting, litter pick-ups and creating wildflower meadows. It opens the visitor centre at Cammo Lodge on Sunday afternoons.
The Visitor Centre and W.C. are open on Sundays from 2:00pm - 4:00pm.
