OUR CLASSES FOR DURING PREGNANCY

Our classes and groups for during your pregnancy are designed to help you make informed choices about how, where, and with whom you give birth, and to help you feel confident about approaching parenthood.

Our information is balanced and unbiased, and we promise to answer your questions openly and honestly. All our facilitators are experts in their field, and include doulas, ex-midwives and those who have completed the Birth Educators' Course.

BABY FIRST AID WORKSHOP...

We recognise how valuable basic first aid knowledge is as a parent and in life generally. Our Baby First Aid session is a non-certificated workshop aiming to give confidence to parents in dealing with common childhood emergencies.

We recognise how valuable basic first aid knowledge is as a parent and in life generally. Our Baby First Aid session is a non-certificated workshop aiming to give confidence to parents in dealing with common childhood emergencies.

At present the session is being delivered over Zoom. The workshop is facilitated live by Liz Foster who has a background in health care. To find out about Liz’s training and insurance in Baby & Child First Aid, please see the foot of this page.

The workshop uses demonstrations, videos, quizzes and class discussions. The course is hands on and participants are asked to make a ‘towel baby’ or bring a soft toy to the class to practice procedures such as CPR and choking.

The session covers:

- Unconscious baby & child (0-12 years)
- Choking (0-12 years)
- Croup
- Nose bleed
- Broken Bones
- Allergic Reaction
- Burns
- Bleeds
- Meningitis
- Fever
- Febrile Seizure

Who is the course suitable for?

All expectant parents, parents, grandparents & carers. The course focuses on babies up to the age of one year, however CPR and management of choking in children up to the age of 12 is also covered.

What to expect

The workshop lasts for 2 hours and 30 minutes. The first half of the session covers C.P.R and choking. The second half covers signs that your baby is unwell and moves on to common childhood first aid situations. There is a break half way through the workshop for participants to go and make themselves a cup of tea.
