Communities’ Reduce, Reuse & Recycle Project is funded by Climate Action Fund (CAF), The Big Lottery Fund, a partnership between ELREC & NKS (Networking Key Services).
The aim of the project is to encourage and support BAME communities in Edinburgh to reduce waste, increase reusing and repairing and to shift to a more sustainable consumption.
Overall, we will change attitude, behaviours and awareness towards waste and consumption through activities including:
- Clothing repairs and alterations sessions
- Sewing/stitching classes
- Swap Shop events
- Fashion shows
- Food parcel distribution to vulnerable families
- Cookery sessions
- DIY upcycling
- ‘Composting’ and ‘wormery’ workshops
- Visits to recycling centres
- Edinburgh Climate Festival
We work with the Polish, South Asian, Chinese, Spanish and African communities based on ELREC’s long established relationships with the communities and their higher demographic representation in Edinburgh.
